From as young as I can remember, I have been into documenting moments and memories. I always had a diary throughout my childhood; I think at one point I actually had four on the go at once! Recording little moments has always been hugely important to me, and never more so than since I had children. I have two sons, and since becoming a mum, I have tried to write down all the little moments that have made us laugh, feel proud, and generally warmed our hearts. As well as snapping photos of them incessantly, 35k on the iphone currently and counting…
However, in the whirlwind that is parenthood, I've faced a major challenge with documenting my children's memories: organising them in a way that's quick and hassle-free, aesthetically pleasing, and easily accessible for my husband, our extended family, and me. I craved a way to effortlessly record all those little moments without adding another chore to my overflowing plate. Life isn't just about the big events, and I wanted a way to preserve them all, beautifully and forever.
During my career, I’ve spent nearly 8 years working at Meta (formerly Facebook) in London, managing my role there both before and after becoming a parent. At Meta I immersed myself in their culture of innovation, collaboration, and user-centric development. I worked alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry which has equipped me with a great understanding of how to build products that resonate with users. My experience at Meta taught me how to navigate challenges, iterate rapidly, and stay agile in an ever-changing tech landscape.
I was made redundant from Meta just after having my second child. This was when I decided that I was going to leverage my experience to create something that combines a parent's biggest passion in life - their children - with my passion for recording little moments.
I decided to create a solution for a problem I battled with constantly in my day to day being a mum - wanting to document all those little moments, but feeling so overwhelmed at the idea of doing so whilst juggling all the other millions of responsibilities us parents take on! With a memory as unreliable as mine (a good friend from uni calls me Dory!), I feared that one day the memories of the everyday moments that currently brighten my life would fade and be forgotten. This desire to preserve these precious moments forever is what inspired me to create Lifetiles. I toyed with plenty of different ideas to find a solution and eventually Lifetiles was born. We've crafted a platform that not only captures these lovely little snippets of life but also ensures they're forever retained.
I cannot fully express just how important the Lifetiles mission is to me. During my research building the company, I got a hugely positive response when I shared my idea. I spoke to countless parents and they all said the same thing - I really wish this was something I had already been using since the birth of my children. Every parent I spoke to totally got how incredible it would be to have a way to very easily capture all of their children's little moments as they grew and have them organised and made into a beautiful keepsake without having to put any effort in. Knowing how much I love and adore my own children, the thought of being able to help other parents cherish their memories of their children brings me so much joy.
Welcome to Lifetiles, here to revolutionise the way we document our children's memories - you now have a way to capture all the little precious moments without the stress!
